We bring our reinsurance experience to bear for “front-end” entities (i.e., insurance agents, insurance brokers and insurance companies). Often, the difference between a successful and unsuccessful insurance placement involves the utilization of reinsurance. For instance, we can work with you to “carve out” certain elements of your client’s risk to ensure a successful placement (in the example of agents/brokers) or to protect your balance sheet (in the case of an insurance carrier).

Insurance pricing is often a “back-ended” mechanism ---- that is, reinsurers often force price increases which then move forward to the insurer and, ultimately, to the consumer. The current (and ongoing) “hard” market is an example – the reinsurers have tightened terms and rates as a result of poor results (driven by catastrophes and court judgments). So, the reinsurers are raising rates, exiting lines of business and restricting “fully fronted” placements (100%-reinsured MGA programs). These coverage restrictions and rate increases are finding their way forward to the insurance market.

Thus, it’s more important than ever to have a responsive partner with contacts across the spectrum of the risk management industry.
